Armitage Centre

All plenary sessions of Assembly will take place here. A loop system is available for those who have hearing difficulties.

Drinking water is available at various points.

The URC Information Desk is situated in the Foyer. United Reformed Church Stewards will deal with your queries, replace missing papers and name badges and provide you with local information. They will act as the primary source for giving and
receiving messages. Tel: 0161 224 8275

Please contact the Stewards here if you require assistance with mobility needs.

The URC General Office is situated in the Conference Room on the 1st floor. Enquiries relating to the business sessions or for the platform party should be made here.

Ecumenical and Overseas Guests have the use of the Senior Common Room, Ashburne Hall and the three rooms in Behrens House throughout Assembly.

A Bookstall will be run by St Denys Bookshop of Manchester. It will be located in Studio A, 1st Floor at the Armitage Centre.

A Fairtrade and organic products stall will be available in the Studio A, 1st Floor at the Armitage Centre.

A Quiet room is available in the Firs Pavillion behind the Armitage Centre.

General facilities on campus

Facilites at the University include cash dispensers in the Great Court at Owens Park.
There is a 24 hour reception situated in Owens Park.

There are launderettes available in the Admin Building at Richmond Park and in Ashburne Hall.

Public phone boxes can be found in Great Court.
Laptops can be connected to the Ethernet in your bedroom. A form, which can be picked up at the Main Reception in Owens Park, must be filled out and a fee of £5 will be charged for the duration of your stay. You will need to know the MAC address of your laptop and the Operating System.

A well-equipped gymnasium is also available for a charge of £15 for the duration of your stay at the Armitage Centre. A form can be obtained from the Armitage Reception and must be filled out and returned before using the gym.

There is an indoor swimming pool located at The Aquatics Centre on Oxford Road. This is on the bus route going towards the City Centre.

SMOKING
Please note that smoking is only permitted outside and at least 5 metres from a doorway or window.

Registration

Check in at the information desk in the Armitage Centre, on Saturday afternoon. Leave your cases in your car and register. You will be told where you will be staying and given your keys, a name badge, a two ring binder for your Assembly papers and any other necessary information, including a plan of the campus. The campus will not be open before 11am when registration will start, but please note that lunch will not be provided and there are no facilities to purchase food on site. However, there are plenty of takeaways nearby and Sainsbury’s is only a few minutes walk. Staff at the Information Desk can direct you.

Please note: If you arrive after 3pm you must still register at the Information Desk
in the Armitage Centre, but keys will have to be collected at the Owens Park Main
Reception. If you are likely to arrive after 11pm, please notify the Assembly Office in
London (020 7916 8647) by Tuesday, 3 July.

Accommodation will be located in Richmond Park, Woolton Hall and Sheavyn House. All rooms are single with the exception of Woolton Hall, all are en suite (all showers). Towels are provided. All rooms are non-smoking. In case you need to be contacted in an emergency out of normal hours, please ring 0161 248 3000.

Getting around the campus

The campus is fairly compact and flat. No accommodation is more than 10 minutes walk from the Armitage Centre.

DISABLED ACCESS

The University has many measures in place to assist those with disabilities.
Disabled parking is available at all halls. Those who are disabled or have walking problems will be accommodated at Richmond Park.

At the close of Assembly

Please note that all rooms must be vacated by 10am on Tuesday, 10 July and baggage may be stored by arrangement in the Richmond Park bar.

Catering arrangements

Breakfast and evening meals will be taken in either The Tower Dining Room or Tree Court Dining Room. Both of these can be found in Great Court at Owens Park. Identical meals are served in these two venues. Those accommodated in Poplar Court (Richmond Hall) and Woolton Hall will have their
breakfasts and evening meals in The Tower Dining Room. Those accommodated in Willow Court (Richmond Hall) and Sheavyn House will have their breakfasts and evening meals in Tree Court Dining Room.

Meal times are:

Breakfast – 7am to 9am daily

Packed lunches will be available for collection from the Tower Bar Lounge from 12.30pm. Lunch is a complete take-away meal, which includes a soft drink.

Evening Meal – Saturday 5pm to 7pm

Sunday & Monday 5.30pm to 7pm

Emergency Services and Fire Procedures

For help in an emergency dial 0800 839 907 from the telephone in your bedroom or flat or from an outside phone or mobile. Visitors are asked to familiarise themselves with the University’s fire procedures which are displayed in each bedroom.
On discovering a fire in other buildings:
Raise the alarm by breaking the glass in the nearest Break Glass Point.

On hearing the continuous ringing of fire bells:
Stop what you are doing
Leave by the nearest Fire Exit
Walk calmly, do not run
Do not stop to collect personal belongings
Make your way to the nearest evacuation point, standing well clear of the building.

Do not re-enter the building until told to do so by the Fire Service or University Security Staff.

Medical Assistance

University staff are first aid trained and First Aid is available through the URC Information
Desk (Tel: 0161 224 8275). Visitors in need of emergency assistance outside these hours
should phone for an ambulance through the normal 999 service or consult Security on 0800 839 907 from the telephone in your bedroom or from a mobile.

Reporting Incidents

In the unlikely event of an accident or other incident occurring on University premises,
please report immediately to Security on 0800 839 907 from the telephone in your bedroom, flat or from an outside phone or a mobile. They will then take appropriate action.
